Walter Dunphy is a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), qualifying in January 2019. Based in Carrick-on-Suir, Walter has over 14 years of experience working across practice and industry with Irish SMEs and multinational businesses.

Walter began his career in the SME department of a Big 4 accounting firm, where he gained extensive experience working with owner-managed businesses across accounting, tax, and compliance. He later progressed to management level in a medium-sized accounting practice in Cork, working with a wide range of small and medium sized companies and groups. In addition to practice experience, Walter has also worked in industry with both SME companies and multinational pharmaceutical businesses, giving him practical insight into how businesses operate beyond compliance requirements.

Walter holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from the University of Limerick, graduating in 2012 with a major in Economics and Finance.

In addition to his professional practice, Walter is the runs Helpmestart Limited (trading as IrishFinancial.ie, an education platform dedicated to improving financial understanding for individuals and small business owners in Ireland. For over five years he has provided practical education through social media, as well as through a dedicated course and community focused on helping business owners understand compliance requirements and run their businesses more effectively.

Walter is also the author of the Irish Investor’s Guidebook, which aims to simplify the understanding of the tax landscape when it comes to investing in Ireland.

He established his accounting practice in 2026 with the goal of providing practical, straightforward accounting and tax support to Irish businesses.
